Soy Martua Pardede
Former Commissioner and Vice Chairman of KPPU (Commission of the Supervision of Business Competition), graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Kagawa University in Japan, is now the Vice Chairman of Advisory Council of Kadin Indonesia (the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and is still a Tri-partite (Government, Business Community and Civil Society) for Corruption Eradication. He was the Chairman of the Commission on Business Ethics, Good Corporate Governance, Clean, Transparent & Professional and Anti Bribery Movement of the Governors Council; Vice President of Kadin Indonesia in charge of trade and member of the National Team for trade negotiation under WTO and bilateral & regional trade negotiations. During his term with KPPU, he initiated the 1st ASEAN Conference on Competition Policy & Law in 2003 and was in charge of the 2nd Conference in 2006, both held in Bali, and was instrumental in the establishment of the ASEAN Consultative Forum on Competition (ACFC) in 2004 which gives birth to the ASEAN Expert Group on Competition (AEGC).
Dr. Syamsul Maarif
Dr. Syamsul Maarif is Chairman, Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) for several periods, lastly 2007-2008. In 2005-2006 Dr. Maarif was Chairman of ASEAN Consultative Forum on Competition (ACFC).
Born in Mojokerto, Indonesia on 26 September 1957, Dr. Maarif accomplished his Bachelor of Laws at Brawijaya University in 1984, Master of Laws (LL.M) in 1990 and Doctor of Civil Laws (DCL) in 1998 at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
As a lawyer, he joined Law Firm, Artono & Partners (Malang) and Bahar & Partner (Jakarta), founded Law Firm, Syam & Associates (1999) and consultant for the World Bank, Jakarta office. In the academic field, he is a lecturer on Economic Law, International Economic and Trade Law, Competition Law at Graduates Studies, Faculty of Law, University of Brawijaya, and the University of Indonesia. In addition, Dr. Maarif is an instructor at the Indonesian Institute for Corporate Directory (IICD), and at the Continuing Legal Education, Indonesian Bar Association (Peradi). Dr. Maarif had been the adviser to the National Committee for International Trade Negotiation. Currently, Dr. Maarif is Justice, the Supreme Court, Republic of Indonesia.
Senior Partner of Kartini Muljadi & Rekan. She is practicing law since 1958 until present.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia (1958) and served as a Judge (1958 – 1973) and Post graduate studies for Public Notary at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (1967). She is a Chairperson and member of several prominent institutions and associations among others Yayasan Institute of Human Virology and Cancer Biology of the University of Indonesia, Yayasan Kesehatan Sumber Waras, Yayasan AIDS Indonesia, Badan Arbitrase Pasar Modal Indonesia, Lembaga Komisaris dan Direktur Indonesia, Yayasan Danamon Peduli, PMI, KADIN, Perkumpulan Ekonomi Indonesia – Jerman (“EKONID”).
She had significant involvement in initiatives taken to improve the condition of the banking sector in Indonesia following the 1997/98 Asian Financial Crisis. She was appointed as a member of the team responsible for providing guidance on the provision of legal services to IBRA (the bank restructuring agency established by the Indonesian government in response to the financial crisis).
She was awarded a Capital Markets Lifetime Achievement Award by the President of Indonesia in 2004.

He is also a member of National Committee on Good Corporate Governance (KNKG) , Member of Expert Board of The Centre Policy Review Institute (CPR-Institute), and former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Indonesia (BI) , former Deputy Chairman of IBRA (BPPN). He graduated from Padjajaran University (Faculty of Economics) and from Central Missouri State University, USA (MA – Economics).
Rachmat Gobel, born in Jakarta on September 3, 1962, the fifth child and first son of H. Thayeb Mohammad Gobel, the founder of the Gobel Group and a pioneer of the electronics industry in Indonesia, who founded PT National Gobel (now PT Panasonic Gobel Manufacturing/PMI) together with Matsushita Electric of Japan. Rachmat Gobel is now Chairman of PT. Panasonic Gobel Indonesia. During the period of economic growth in Indonesia, Rachmat Gobel oversaw the expansion of the Gobel Group, driven by the Matsushita Gobel Group of companies. Rachmat Gobel played an active role as the industry spokesperson and was elected as the Chairman of the Indonesian Electronics Association for the period of 1999-2004 and 2004-2009 and the Vice President of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry coordinating Industry for the period of 2004 – 2008 and 2008 – 2013. He initiated the formulation of Road Map of Kadin Indonesia 2010-2030. Rachmat Gobel is also the Chairman of the Indonesia Japan Friendship Association. Rachmat Gobel, through the Matsushita Gobel Education Foundation, is playing a leading role in the technical and entrepreneurial education of the Indonesian industrial workforce. The Foundation is acting as a think tank for the industry and involved at a regional level in encouraging the sharing of knowledge and experiences to upgrade the capabilities of centers of excellence in ASEAN.
Ningrum Natasya Sirait
Prof. Sirait has been working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of North Sumatera in Medan, Indonesia since 1989. Prof. Sirait obtained her Master’s degree from University of Wisconsin in the US in 1996 where her major field of study was economic law. She completed her Doctoral degree in 2003 with Dissertation in Competition Law, a newly introduced subject to the Indonesian law school. Prior to the completion of the PhD degree in law, she received Fulbright Scholarship to the US for completing the PhD research. Prof. Sirait has been inaugurated with tenure professorship at the University of North Sumatera in Medan, Indonesia. At present, she is a Program Secretary for PhD in Law Program at the Law Faculty. Prof. Sirait teaches several subjects at both undergrad and graduate school of law level, such as Competition Law, Contract Law, Corporation Law, Consumer Protection.
Prof. Sirait has written extensive article in the area of Competition Law and several books concerning the same subject. The articles published in both national and international journals. Prof. Sirait has been a visiting researcher and scholar in Germany under DAAD scholarship and given talks in various international seminars in Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany and Washington DC.
Apart from being a law professor and teach, Prof. Sirait has been deeply involved with several activities outside the law school. She and her research team have been doing several researches for the purpose of both Legislative and Judicial reform movement. She leads the research team under collaboration with The Judicial Commission, EU and the British Council, Supreme Court, JICA, Bank of Indonesia and several others continuing work collaboration with PSHK etc.
Being advocate concentrating in Commercial Law, he graduated for his law degree from the University of Sumatra Utara (USU) and finished his Master degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Nottingham England, and now is the candidate Doctor in Business Law at the Padjajaran University Bandung. He also faced a short program course for International Private Law in Den-Haag and certified insurance practitioner from the Australia and New Zealand Institute (ANZIIF) Australia and Capital Market in Jakarta. He is the Chairman of the Indonesian Receiver and Administrator Association (AKPI), the Chairman of the International Affair Department of the Central Chairman Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Advocate Association, Vice Chairman of the Permanent Commission of International Economic Multilateral Corporation and International Trade of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia), and also the lecturer for post graduate program.
Ir. M. Nawir Messi, M.Sc.
Commissioner of Commission of the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) from 2006-2011 and was Director Executive of KPPU before elected as Commissioner.
He was graduated from Australian National University in 1994. His background in economic and development policy was developed through various different of organization, i.e. the Center for Policy and Implementation Studies (CPIS) – a collaborative research institute between Harvard University for International Development (HIID) and the Government of Indonesia (1985-1994), the World Bank (1995-1996), the Asian Development Bank (1997-1998), and the Institute for Development of Economic and Finance (INDEF) from 1995-2000. Beside that, Mr. Messi is also an active lecturer in the post graduate program at the University of Indonesia and Bogor Agriculture University.
